The Truth

Ahh.... sweet serendipity... Late summer nights, cute guys, bronzed skin - could life get any better? Now, that's what everyone has in mind whenever they think of summer. But that really couldn't be further than the truth. With school straight around the corner, and summer coming to a dismal end, I can't help but reminisce about the things I've "done". And yes, the quotation marks are merely there because I actually haven't "done" anything. Sleeping in, check; spending the majority of my time indoors, check; eating countless portions of food which, evidently, always leaves me feeling guilty, check. I guess my circumstance just extends past that of a couch potato...

In my defence though, if you think about it, summer really is just an allotted time period that some genius (kudos to whomever that is by the way) thought of to give people something to look forward to. I mean, there isn't a specific set of rules concerning what we should and shouldn't be doing during the summer and how we supposedly should be having the cliched "time of our lives!!!". But yes, back to the point, I just can't believe I'm that person, the person who wastes away quality time that could be spent on more productive things. I'm not all to blame though; for the most part, it's my paranoid, freakazoid of a mother. Like always, she's been crazy uptight about my social life and when I get to go out. 'Strict asian parent' would be putting it lightly.

Aaaand there's me going off topic again (NOTE TO SELF: RANT ABOUT MOTHER IN ANOTHER POST) but as for now let's just say I could be a bit more constructive in terms of how I spend my time. I mean, I don't always have to be spending my time hanging out with friends, right? I could be exercising, trying out new things like yoga, learning new things, doing community service - the list is endless. But I don't know, the area I live in just really isn't suited to stuff like that. Maybe that's just me trying to find an excuse but I'm just so PISSED OFF FOR SPENDING TWO MONTHS DOING ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. AND YEAH, THE CAPS LOCKS ARE HERE TO SHOW HOW ANNOYED I AM RIGHT NOW. GODDAMN YOU INTERNET, WHY DO YOU HAVE TO TAKE AWAY 2/3's OF MY DAY?!

On that note, maybe I should try out the things that I've suggested for the remaining two weeks... You know, take my own advice? I guess I could try but I'm not exactly bound to keep that promise. I'll get back to you guys on that. Wow, funny how I'm already explicitly saying 'you guys' when there is probably no one reading this. Oh well, this was good for me. And plus, I'M SPENDING MY TIME PRODUCTIVELY - AM I RIGHT OR AM I RIGHT? What a segue way! Enlightening myself further PLUS the added bonus of practicing my writing skills; thanks blogger.com, appreciate it loads!

What Lies Ahead of Me

If you were to ask me what I'm truly afraid of, I would reply with the future without a doubt. I don't know what it is about the future but the prospect of encountering the unknown really, really scares me. Along with GCSE's, upcoming IB exams that I'll have to take and university applications, I can't help but feel apprehensive about every decision that I make. Will this ultimately help me in the long run? Will I succeed in life? Self-doubt basically makes up 50% of my day. Ultimately, what I'm afraid of is not getting into a decent university, and failing in life. So I guess you can understand why I'm so anxious about what life has in store for me.

If you think about it, life is a fragile and delicate matter. One fall could easily end our lives in an instant. Just like that, the lives that we have worked so hard for, gone in a flash. The human species is eventually going to die out and the world itself could even come to an end. So why do we try so hard to be successful in life? I guess you could say it's that numbing feeling that we have. The feeling of having the world right at your feet and the exhilaration of finally achieving what you've always wanted to attain. I suppose this is why I worry so much about my future. Because I don't know how my actions will effect me later on in life, a life that I want to proudly say I have succeeded in.

I have no idea....

So, I've made a blog. I don't know where this is going to go, or even what I'm going to write about. All I know is that I had a sudden urge to write, and start a blog. What am I going to write about? I have no idea. Life, my teenage problems, what I like, my recommendations, food, my style? The possibilities are endless but there has to be a way for me to express my thoughts out into this anthropoid-infested world, instead of having everything fester inside of me. So, here goes.

Hi, I'm Debbie. I'm 14, I live in Hong Kong and have done so for my entire life. I'd like to think that I'm somewhat funny and I love spending my time watching TV shows. Not surprising, seeing as my life revolves around pop culture. One of my biggest dreams is to move to either America or England - I don't want to limit my options. I've always aspired to be a journalist but I don't know whether it's the cliched idea of it that I like or the actual aspect of writing that I love. Who knows where life will take me, but as for now I'm worrying about a French test that I'll be having so life will just have to suck itself up and wait until I'm ready. Okay, it's 10:40 PM over here and I'm getting reaaaallly tired so as with life, this blog can wait too. I need my beauty sleep, after all. Don't want the boys at school to be repelled by my under eye bags, do we now?
